The LMS Planetarium is available for rental by other public, private, and charter schools to enhance elementary and secondary science education! All programs offered align to the Michigan Merit Curriculum and Common Core standards. Community groups like Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops are also invited to work toward merit badge certification.

Legg Middle School's Planetarium opened for business in 1967, the same year LMS welcomed its first students through its doors. An anonymous gift was received by district officials in 1966 with the stipulation that the district provide matching funds to include a planetarium in its new junior high school building.
