Max Larsen Elementary SchoolOn May 7th, Max Larsen hosted a Fine Arts & Title I Literacy Night. 1st through 3rd Grade students gave musical performances, art work for Kindergarten through 3rd Grade students was displayed throughout the building, and eight nature-themed literacy stations were set up throughout the building with activities for families to enjoy together. There were 112 families who signed our attendance sheet, but based on how full our performance area was, we're sure more attended and missed the sign in.
Our Title I leadership team is making final edits on our submission to become a Schoolwide Title I building for the 2013-14 school year. This status will allow Max Larsen to utilize its Title I resources and materials for all students in the building.
We currently have a 1st Grade teacher vacancy posted for next school year. A team composed of district administrators and Max Larsen staff will be reviewing applications and interviewing candidates prior to the end of the school year.
Max Larsen and Lincoln Elementary hosted Kindergarten registration screenings on April 29th and 30th and May 1st and 7th. Teachers screened 192 students during this time period. This is up from last year's spring screening number (163 students). We continue to receive calls and visits from families who missed the registration period. We will be enrolling and screening these students as we become aware of them.
