Happy Birthday to Drake Harvey and Jacob Sexton!

Congratulations to Kylie Dudek!! Kylie competed at the National High School Gymnastics Association's Senior Showcase May 17 & 18 in Ft. Myers, FL. She finished with three medals including the first ever National Championship for Coldwater high School and the State of Michigan on the Uneven Bars. She was 12th place on the balance beam and finished in the top 10 in the nation for the all-around with a 9th place finish.

This week is Student & Staff Appreciation Week!! Today is "Free Lunch Day"! Thursday is "Picnic Day" with an extended lunchtime, and Friday is "School Spirit Day", with cookies being sold for 50¢ and an assembly. Also, all CHS home sporting events are only $1.00 for CHS Underclassmen and FREE for all CHS Seniors!! Make sure to bring you ID.

Caps & Gowns can be picked up in the Main Office if you did not receive yours earlier the week.

Class Council Officers Petitions are now available in the Main Office. These are for any student that wishes to be an officer of their class. Petitions are due back to Ms. Kiss today.

Interact will meet tomorrow at 7:40am in the library.

Senior Mock Award Elections will now take place Thursday and Friday before school in the Main Lobby.

New National Honor Society members: There will be a short meeting Friday at 7:30am in Rm. 148. Officer nominations and service opportunities are on the agenda. Please be plan on attending.

Drama Club will be presenting "Dinner Theater" Friday at 6:30pm. Come and eat a lovely Fazoli's dinner and be entertained by various scenes, monologues, and music performed by Coldwater High School's Drama Club. Tickets are $8.00 and must be purchased in advance (so Fazoli's can count how many dinners to bring) from Mrs. Jonsson or a member of the Drama Club.

Fall Varsity & JV Spirit Team Tryouts are right around the corner!! Tryouts will take place in the Old Gym today through Wednesday from 4-6pm and Thursday and Friday from 3-5pm. Everyone is welcome, so don't miss your chance to be on the CHS Cheer/Dance Team! Contact Coach Case with questions.

Math and Science tutoring help is available in Mrs. MacArthur's room after school Monday through Thursday until 4pm. There is also tutoring help available in the Guidance Office after school.

Interested in Detasseling this summer? RBH Detasseling and Pioneer Hi-Bred are now taking applications for the upcoming season. Applications are available in the Main Office.

GUIDANCE OFFICE NEWS

Any student interested in speaking with a military recruiter: The Navy Recruiter will be in the Guidance Office every first and third Wednesday of the month from 10am-12pm; the Marine Recruiter will be in the Guidance Office every second Wednesday of the month; and the Army Recruiter will be here every first and third Monday of the month. Please sign up in the Guidance Office if you wish to be contacted by one of these recruiters.

AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS

The American Legion is sponsoring a scholarship and financial aid website called "Need A Lift?". This campaign is aimed at helping students and parents find money to use at colleges and universities everywhere. Look for valuable information at www.legion.org/needalift.

The Tylenol Scholarship Fund (Alumni ONLY in the Health Field): The Tylenol Scholarship Fund currently awards $250,000 in scholarships each year to students pursuing careers in healthcare around the world and in the United States. The makers of Tylenol award 10 scholarships worth $10,000 each, followed by 30 scholarships worth $5,000 each. An additional 150 scholarships worth $1,000 are reserved for students who participate in community service activities. Applicants will be judged on leadership qualities and academic performance. This scholarship program can be used at any accredited university or college in the United States. Tylenol scholarship qualifications and eligibility requirements:

  • Must be a resident of the 50 United States, Puerto Rico or the District of Columbia.
  • Graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university, graduate schools, or vocational/technical schools.
  • Must be enrolled in a health care related field.
  • Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate work or graduate studies by the spring semester of the year that they apply.
  • Must have one or more years of school remaining.

The 2013 application window should be open from mid-April 2013 to May 31 2013.
